Derivational Morphology of Czech on Large Corpus Data
Faltusová, Marie ; Dytrych, Jaroslav (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
Subject of this thesis is study of word formation in the Czech language. The main aim is to create a module acquiring derivations from data of the electronic Dictionary of the Czech Language. This problematics has been solved by constructing three-level processing based on dictionary data. The first level is to obtain derivations from lemma definitions, the second step is making groups of basic forms according to their similarities, and the third stage is the evaluation of derivation pairs by number tag of derivation class to which they belong. I have managed to get more than 4 500 new words and evaluate over 20 000 derivative couples. The module has become a full-fledged part of the Morphological Analyzer of the Knowledge Technology Research Group, working at the Faculty of Information Technology of the Brno University of Technology.
The problematics of the false beginner in French as a foreign language learning/teaching
Markalousová, Barbora ; Klinka, Tomáš (advisor) ; Biegel, Madeleine (referee)
This thesis will address the special problem of learning and teaching at the level of a false beginner in French. The text will be divided into two parts, a theoretical part and a practical part. In the theoretical part, we will define the specific term of false beginner, furthermore, we will classify it according to the language level in the European Framework of Reference and I will focus on several points of view on this issue. In the theoretical part we will also describe the learning process from the didactic perspective, from the psycholinguistic perspective and from the perspective of the functioning of the two hemispheres of our brain, in other words, from the neurolinguistic perspective. According to these perspectives, we suggest several types of exercises, games and various other activities that could be beneficial for a false beginner. In the practical part, I then analyse data from my survey, which focuses on students of French language courses at the "false beginner" level and professionals in the Czech Republic and in France. The aim of the work was to define the false beginner with his/her characteristics, to classify him/her within the European Framework of Reference, and to find out how to work with him/her from a didactic point of view, and whether the work is similar to that...

Semantic characteristics of verbs in written discourse of children of younger school age
Trojanová, Tereza ; Pacovská, Jasňa (advisor) ; Lehečková, Eva (referee)
The bachelor papers have a goal to examine the area of semantic characteristics of verbs that are used by younger school-age children in their written expressions. The individual written works of the children from the fifth class of elementary school are a base for the research. The quantitative methods of research are used due to the gaining of relevant facts for the analysis of the collected material. Any quantification of the cognitive development cannot be held as generally true. The bachelor papers enrol certain tendencies of the children's speech development, which can become an impulsion for further scientific research. An asset of the papers is also an appendix with the primary younger school-age children's texts. The bachelor papers are divided into a theoretical and an empiric part. The theoretical part describes the basic starting points of psycholinguistics and introduces different attitudes to the language acquisition by a child. Further, it contains a chapter characterizing a period of younger school age and chapters devoting the issue of verbs, their semantics and a classification in light of semantic features. The empiric part shows the work hypothesis, description of the research sample and the methodology of the research. The core of this part is a quantitative expression of a...
Vietnamese-Czech bilingual adolescents on EEG - bilingual effect on cognitive advantage
ŠIMKOVÁ, Kateřina Marie
A recently progressive topic of psychology are aspects of humans psyché. It is raised in the most complicated matter human could ever explore. In the brain. This bachelor thesis briefly concludes cerebral mechanisms of neuroplasticity and its influence on humans life. Concretely the theoretical part is specialized on a cognitive advantage of bilingualism. The mentioned advantage was studied in empirical part by electroencephalographic measurement in Vietnamese-Czech bilinguals during letter detection task. We expected bilinguals to outperform control group of monolinguals in behavioral part. Due to a different neural organization within linguistic plasticity, we also expected different amplitudes in event-related potentials in the bilingual group in linguistic areas of the brain. Results confirm mentioned neural differences, although behavioral advantage hypothesis is falsified.
